How Lead Routing Works

Lead routing automatically assigns incoming leads to the appropriate sales representative based on rules you define. This ensures no lead falls through the cracks and every prospect gets timely follow-up.

Routing Methods

AutomateNexus supports several routing strategies:

  • Round Robin — Distributes leads evenly across your team in rotation
  • Territory-Based — Routes leads based on geographic region, industry, or account type (see Territory Management)
  • Weighted Assignment — Assigns more leads to higher-performing or more available reps
  • Custom Rules — Create custom routing rules based on any lead field (source, company size, product interest, etc.)

Setting Up Routing Rules

Navigate to Lead & Customer Management > Lead Routing to configure your rules:

  1. Click Create Rule
  2. Define the conditions (e.g., country equals "United States")
  3. Select the routing method and target reps
  4. Set the priority (higher priority rules are evaluated first)
  5. Enable the rule

Lead Scoring

Lead scoring assigns a numerical value to each lead based on their attributes and behavior. Higher scores indicate leads more likely to convert. Scoring criteria can include:

  • Demographic factors — Job title, company size, industry
  • Behavioral signals — Page visits, form submissions, email opens, content downloads
  • Engagement recency — More recent interactions score higher

Auto-Assignment

When a lead meets your routing criteria, AutomateNexus automatically:

  1. Evaluates the lead against all active routing rules
  2. Assigns the lead to the matched rep
  3. Sends a notification to the assigned rep
  4. Creates an initial follow-up task
